Truckee, CA – April 22, 2013 – Trails & Vistas’ art hikes blend world-class artistic expression with hiking in nature. On Sept. 7 & 8, 2013 attendees from around the country will walk along the Pacific Crest Trail on Donner Summit in the Tahoe National Forest and experience live music, dance performances, storytelling, sculpture and painting.

In addition to the art hikes, a 10th anniversary concert will take place at the Truckee Regional Park Amphitheatre from 6 to 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013.

10th ANNIVERSARY ART HIKES
The theme for Trails & Vistas 10th anniversary art hikes is “Reflections.” More than 30 participating artists including musicians, dancers, poets, singers and visual artists will perform aside stunning alpine lakes and breathtaking vistas.

Artists include internationally acclaimed Angelika from Grass Valley who sings healing chants in ancient Sanskrit and Truckee-based InnerRhythms Dance Theatre whose performance weaves seamlessly around the boulders and into the trees. Saturday art hikes feature, for the first time, a forty-piece symphony orchestra and Tsurunokaie Taiko drummers. Sunday art hikes feature Ian Ethan Case, a musician of the African Kalimba, whose rhythmic and melodic sounds are both innovative and deeply rooted in tradition accompanied with percussion musicians from Grass Valley. Participants also include Angelique Benicio, a performance and installation artist from Marin, CA and Susie Alexander, Brooke Bishop, Sara Smith - visual artists and Artistic Director and Trail & Vistas founder Nancy Tieken Lopez from Truckee, CA.

The guided art hikes will be offered every 15 minutes from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. There are three types of specialty hikes: Family hikes for those hiking with children, hikes for those seeking a slower pace and meditative hikes. Advance purchase is highly recommended. Tickets cost $30 for adults and $10 for children.

CONCERT
Performers include double-neck guitarist Ian Ethan Case from Boston, MA, Reno Taiko Tsurunokai, a Japanese drum group from Reno, NV and the forty-piece San Jose State Symphony Orchestra plus an opening act by Ann Licater, a world flutist from Los Angeles.
